Roanoke Zoo

The Roanoke Zoo also has a small, but excellent aviary. Probably not more than 20×20 feet, there’s a variety of birds that are obviously used to humans, calm, and beautiful.

Photo

This is the first time I’ve heard of this, but it sounded interesting so I figured I’d give it a try. Have a look around, enjoy the pictures and feel free to comment. At the bottom of each of my posts there’s a link to the Flickr gallery containing more pictures of that type.

I will be doing two giveaways. Both will be a photo print of any of my photographs. All of my photographs can be seen on Flickr. The first winner will get an 11×14 print, the second an 8×10 print. The prints will be professionally done by a commercial photo company. Please keep in mind that not all of my pictures are suitable for printing at these sizes, so not all of the photos will actually be available, but the majority will and I’ll do my best to ensure the one you like the most is the one you get.

To enter for the giveaway, you must comment on this post. Please ensure you include your e-mail address so that I can contact you if you win. The drawing will be held Feb 15th and the winners announced in an update to this post.

UPDATE:

First Winner: Lynda Taylor from Victoria, Australia (http://taylormadeinoztales.blogspot.com/)

Second Winner: Maggie Robinson from Canada (http://magpiescollectables.blogspot.com/)

It’s one of the best zoos that I’ve ever visited. I especially liked their red panda display and got what I think are some excellent pictures from it.

San Francisco - Science Museum and Aquarium

We had a very limited time to visit the Science Museum, so we focused primarily on the Aquarium. We also went up to see the “living roof” and had a meal in the restaurant (not the cafeteria). The food was excellent, probably the best food on the trip, if a little pricey. Well worth it though.

San Francisco - Japanese Tea Garden

Another “must visit” in my opinion. We spent several hours here and it’s central to other locations. Very pretty and nice to visit.

San Francisco - Hawk Over The Japanese Tea Gardens

We had a recurring “visit” in San Francisco. Several places we visited were in close proximity and within the territory of this hawk.
